Catching Up…Families and Kids

Take a pretty long break over the winter months – but here’s a few from shoots during that time.

Spokane Family Photographer – Fall Family Sessions

Been busy with the fall family shoots and catching up with all of the editing I wasn’t able to do months ago due to health issues.
Shot some very cute little ones a few weeks back.

Spokane Family Photographer – The Halloween Outfit

Shot this in the front yard with a point and shoot that I just picked up.

Blog is Back

After a long, long hiatus I’m going to get the blog back up and running.

For starters, here’s a family shoot from a few months back .

Family Photography at Finch Arboretum

Perfect weather and light for a children’s portrait session this morning.

Recent Family Shots

A mix of some recent shots of clients…and a couple shots of my nephews…

Spokane Family Photographer – October 2 Previews

Had a great time with a great family today at the Finch Arboretum.  Here are a just a few samples of some very cute kids!

Spokane Family Photographer – The Family Portrait

When most of us think of a family portrait, a fairly traditional vision springs to mind.  I would say for all the traditional shots I have taken, this almost accidental shot has to be amongst my favorites – an unplanned shot that really captured the family dynamic.

With summer winding down and fall just a couple months awawy, its a great time to consider a family shoot at some of the great outdoor locations we have in this area (we can also turn your home into a studio if you’d like something with a more familiar feel to it).  Unlike the standard set of shots you’ll get from many of the department store studios, with us you will get a mixture of those more traditional shots you can send off to to friends and family and the creative shots that will bring a smile to your face every time you look at them.  Don’t let the narrow vision so many people have for family portraits prevent you from the opportunity to get a set of pictures that actually capture all those personalities within the family.

We offer a variety of family portrait packages to suit your needs.  Check the “Services” tab for more information, or contact us directly with any inquiries.  Click on the “Contact” link at the top or side of the page for email/phone.

Spokane Wedding Photographer – Drew and Ashley Engagements

Spend a few minutes with Drew and Ashley and you’ll realize that this is a truly remarkable young couple – maturity beyond their years, a genuine love and devotion for and to each other, and a grounding in faith that keeps them focused on what is truly important in life.  I have enjoyed every minute I have spent with them and have been inspired by the way they are approaching their future, working hard to get started on the right foot in each aspect of it.  One of my favorite parts of this job is being able to see people begin their lives together, and I know their journey will be a long and happy one.  Thanks to Michael McMullen for his help with the lighting gear on this shoot!

Spokane Family Photographer – Blake and Sarah

Extraordinarily nice young couple with an extraordinarily cute little boy, and I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to take their pictures.
Here are a few from our session at Manito Park.

Spokane Family Photographer

The first official day of summer in Spokane was also the first day that actually felt like summer in Spokane, so it was no surprise that Manito Park seemed to be overflowing with people, including several photographers who were all capitalizing on the evening light.  I had the pleasure of working with some of the most agreeable youngsters I have ever taken pictures of, including a baby with out of this world patience for having her picture taken.  I also realized that aside from the wedding ring I bought my wife, the 35mm F1.4 from Canon stands out as one of the best purchases of my life.  The lens is absolutely brilliant…but unless you are into photography you obviously don’t care, so I’ll move on to the pictures.  Here are a few.

After a self-imposed break from shooting for the latter part of the winter it’s time to start updating the blog.  Some shots from a recent family shoot.

Some shots from another family photoshoot over the holidays.  If you have the room, we can turn your house or garage into a photo studio complete with studio lighting, a variety of backgrounds, etc., giving you the comfort of pictures taken at your own home.

Spokane Maternity Photographer – Brian and Elise

Far too many people have been called “the friendliest people in the world” for the term to be a very accurate and honest description of whoever is being talked about…unless those two people are Brian and Elise.  In their case, a more apt description doesn’t exist.  Rachel and I had the pleasure of meeting this young couple for a maternity shoot (and an upcoming newborn shoot as soon as little Ella makes her grand entrance) at their apartment.  Brian was instantly offering us coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and I think would have probably been happy to throw a 16 pound turkey in the oven and get that started for us too.  With how at home they made us feel, I can only imagine how pampered their new arrival is going to be.  One thing is certain…she’s going to be wearing some awesome shoes (a hookup at Nike is always a good thing when it comes to outfitting your child’s feet…)  Imelda Marcos has nothing on the collection of footwear this young lady will have….and I’m guessing that joke will fall flat on many readers who aren’t up on their “extravagant tastes of wives of former Phillipine presidents” history…Nevermind then.  Brian and Elise are great people and a lot of fun to be around.  Enough said.

Had a chance to work with some very cute kids and great families over the last weekend. Now is a great time for family portraits – great light and great colors make for some fun family shots.  Contact us to book a session today – we’d love to help you create some memorable family shots, whether you want something with a more traditional feel or something completely creative, we’ll come up with a shot that fits your family’s needs.

Spokane Children’s Photographer – Johanna

This week I had a chance to do some ~1 month pictures of Johanna, the daughter of some very close friends.  As you can see, she is not a difficult subject to photograph with her beautiful eyes and her amazing tolerance for being posed by my clumsy hands.

Spokane Children’s Photographer – Aiden’s 1st Birthday

My nephew Aiden’s 1st birthday party took place on July 10th. Family, friends, food, and swimming – a great afternoon and evening. As a photographer I loved the opportunity I had to take pictures of the kids in their natural element – having fun and being themselves. These ‘candid’ shots are the ones that really show a child’s character, you can see so much personality in their faces – especially their eyes. If any parents ever want some pictures that go beyond the traditional ‘sit in the chair with the fake background’ (which can be nice – I’ve seen killer shots of myself circa 1978 wearing some amazing plaid vests at 3 years old) let me know. I can shoot birthday’s or other events, or we can just set up a play-day for you and your kids at a local park. Let them do their thing, and I’ll catch them at their best.
